I am really stuck with a lot of problems since the time I brought my Nissan Altima.

I have got 4 fines in total,

No reason is mentioned however I guess its coz of exessive speeding - 600 AED
No reason is mentioned however I guess its coz of exessive speeding - 700 AED
No reason is mentioned however I guess its coz of exessive speeding - 1000 AED - with 12 Black Points possible impound also
Accident - 200 AED

All the above accidents and over speeding is from Sharjah Traffic Dept & the 1000 AED fine is locked I cant pay it online can anyone confirm if my car would be impounded as it does not say anything when I am checking my fines on the website but a lot of people said that my car might get impounded for 30 days :(, that is why I am scared to go there if they might just impound my car, plus there are some fine that are actually dated 2006 & 2007 but these fines are not mine at all I got my license only in 2009 & the car is purchased on the January 2011, those fines are on the number plate and there is one fine which is just increasing as late payment charges so I dont really wanna end up paying for something I have not even done I have all the registration and transfer of ownership documents.

Questions please help:

1. Do you think I will have to end up paying for the 2006 & 2007 fines of someone else?, 1 fine even has the previous drivers license number mentioned on it, what do u say? (Btw these 2 fines from the past appear only in the Sharjah police web site not the Dubai Police)

2. Will my car be impounded for 30 days?

3. Do you think I can pay the 1000 AED fine by going to the Dubai Police even if the fine is from the Sharjah Police?

4. Is it possible to pay some extra money to get rid of the impound?

Just due to the impound thing I am afraid to even go to the police and talk to them about the 2006 & 2007 fines which are not mine at all & it is just increasing day by day, I would highly appretiate if someone can actually solve my quieries.

Also please beware of the road between Sharjah Mega Mall & the Abu Shagarah area, I am reffering to the intersection wich leads you to the university city, its a new road and the speed limit is just 60 Km, that road is almost the same as the Sharjah ring road and the Police over there drive normal cars like Prados with nothing written on them but the number plate in Anjad and they are the people who throw fines at you (I have see 1 of those Prado's on Maleha Road)

Thanks to all who can help, Regards to all.

1. Bring them the change of ownership papers from when you bought the car and you should be fine.

2. Not if you pay the amount they want, for me it was Dh6000.

3. No, but call first.

4. Yes, always. For your 12 points and 1 month it's between 3 and 6 grand.

the 1k fine + 30 day impound is for running a red light from what i can recall..

if it does come down to 30 day impound.. chances of convincing them will be slim, and even if you find someone to help you, the 'wasta' will be too high, so letting it sit in impound would be the best option. (Even though you have to pay daily impound parking charge or somethin like that)

spending like 10k just to avoid a 30day impound is kinda stupid, you can get a rent a car for 1-2k for a month, not having ur car for 1 month isnt the end of the world lol.
Dont fear them so much, just go there and clear things out.

well it will probably be around 2-5k.. depending on the situation, can go way up too... specially if you had "Noisy Car" as the violation, the car owners get desperate.. because the cops are known to take out all their parts when its in Impound. :o
no gaurantee hehe, dont you have to pay like 2k anyway even if its impounded as parking fee? :S

F**k this, lets go out and Protest like in Bahrain... lol, seeing its protest season around the region.

I doubt you will be asked to pay the 2006 2007 fines as i registered my car and on the sharjah website i have a fine of 2006 as well but i didnt pay it at registration.
As for the impound, well 30 days or 100 dhs per day ...ur choice keep the car in ... No they dont remove ur exhaust n other spare parts wen ur car is in impound aatleast nothing happened to mine ... touchwood ...
jus relax and pay up ... whichi part of the world ur from its called tax in tht part :)

There is no 'impound parking fee'. If you give the car you don't pay extra.

* There is no impound parking fees in shj

* You can pay extra amount to get rid of impoundment

* They might ask you for the owner who had these old fines if you hav luck ...
