Hi Guys,

Does anyone know anything about subzero garage in Rashidiya?. The garage is managed by Australians (Father & two sons). I am thinking of buliding my GTR34 engine (900+ HP) in their garage. They look professional enough to handle the job but wanted some feedback before giving them the car. They are expensive...!!! Asked for 13000 Dhs for labor plus 4800 Dhs for Machening the engine (as I am thinking to install a stroker kit!!). They have all the products (T51R Spl Turbo kit, HKS cams, Injectors, Autronic ECU,....etc). I guess they are also making money on the parts as well....!!!

CAN YOU RECOOMMEND ANY OTHER RELIABLE GARAGE FOR THE JOB??

THAKS,
SALEM

that's a mere 17k for a turbo and a stroker kit and so on?

Thats a bit too cheap if you ask me.

What will they do?

13 k is for their labor charge for building the engine with all the modifications to reach 900 HP (stroker kit, cams, T51R, .....) and 4800 Dhs is for machening work to be done on the engine(engine blue print boring, head porting and balancing....)

The cost is not that high (relatively) but their products charges are very high as they are also making profit out of it....
Over all, |I don't know if that is a fair price ?.

As I posted somewhere in the engine thread.. It’s pretty cheap if they also give all stuff. A T51 is, to the best of my knowledge, not a cheap thing.. but merely a 1000 USD thing (3500). A large decent, yet non-branded intercooler, costs you at least 300 USD too.. that’s a total of 4500 Dhs.. Custom piping (probably) will not be cheap either. Prices in dubai for instance are 3000 dirhams for a catback.. and it’s the same length more or less..

Oil catch can, oil return lines, engine management system (you’re not gonna use your stock ECU are you?) ..

Cams for my car alone cost 400 USD.. okay, I need double as much cams as you, but then again..

Internals are usually expensive.. rods for my car are 700 USD .. and they cannot hold 900hp..

Unless you know the guys, and it’s a special price.. I’d say go to another garage and ask the same. Just to get an idea of the price. If you have a R34.. don’t cheap it out. I guess the price you got is maybe for used items…

Therefor, just go to another garage and as for a quote..

To give you another idea.. I ordered a low boost Greddy twin turbo kit for a friends 350Z (nobody trusts the internet for paying themselves) and I paid 16800 dirhams. That’s no internals, no labor (except for Mikeh’s garage :D ) and such.. all it has is engine management, injectors, two hairdryers, intercooler and piping… and will generate high 300’s I hope.

So, that’s only a 1000 less than your price.. with all the work installed already. Okay Tom (the 350Z guy) wanted branded stuff.. but then again.

Mikeh,

the complete quote received form subzero is as follows:

1- T51R SPL turbo kit : 28,000 Dhs
2- HKS 272 cams: 3,000 Dhs
3- 1000 cc injectors: 3,300 Dhs
4- Intake manifold : 4,000 Dhs (made in tawiwan)
5-HKS 2.7L crank, connecting rods & CP pistons: 20,750 Dhs
6- Exhasut dump pipe: 1,500 Dhs
7- bearings : 480 Dhs
8- cam gears HKS x 2: 1,100 Dhs
9- balancer wheel (dampner) : 3,100 Dhs
10-Autonic ECU: 16,000 Dhs
11- Fuel rail HKS : 1,200 Dhs
12- Magna Fuel system : 5,500 Dhs
13- Braided lines: 2,363 Dhs
14- valave spring & retainers : 1,800 Dhs1
15- Machening Blaok & Head charges: 4,800 Dhs
16- Labor: 13,000 Dhs
Total: 109,893 Dhs
Plus I have to also buy separetely the oil pum (4000 Dhs) plus the tripple clutch (6500 Dhs). So it is a 120,000 Dhs total project.
what do you think of the prices. (all new products) and it is possible to get them from somewhere else cheaper.
Thanks

Now I get it, it was purely for labor... (i thought it was for the parts as well)

Well, I do believe they do quality then.. but I honestly doubt if others (same quality though) will do it much cheaper.

What's your real name, rockafeller? ;)

I wish man....

But every body told me that I have to pay alot if I want high HP !!!!. The guy who sold me the car recommended that I buy a complete modified engine directly from japan (used or even new). I think this is a good solution and reliable one also (as japanese modified engines are the best) but don't know how to get the right contacts to do that for me....

Does any one know..???

Erm..

you're not expecting a reliable 900hp, do you? For high hp, you will pay a lot. Probably upgrading to a mere 400 or 500 hp is easy, sqeezing out those last few hundreds is hard and difficult. For, high hp = high bill.. high reliable hp = even more $$.

Why exactly do you want 900? If it's a target number you saw in magazines.. those are usually non-loaded dyno numbers, driven on c16 and even nitrious.

It's never bad to have a spare engine I think... if I were you, get a half cut, or a damaged skyline (but without damage to the engine)

But.. trust me, you don't need 900hp for a daily driver..

Do you live in dubai?
