The fastest, most powerful — hell, the most outrageous — series production road car to hail from Mercedes-Benz's storied AMG performance division is finally here: the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series.
670 hp, twin-turbo, 6.0 litre V12 with a 'juggernaut-istic' torque output of 1000Nm makes it one of the most powerful engines AMG has ever built.
Only 350 will be produced and it will be sold at a price tag of $300,000. I'm sure we'll see a few here in the UAE :)
The peak torque output is actually 1200Nm but it has been purposely limited by AMG to keep the transmission running longer (which is actually the strongest transmission that Mercedes bulds :)) It comes with a five speed auto dual-clutch tranny complete with shift pedals. It is the only transmission built by Mercedes which can handle all that power.
AMG's latest 'Speedshift' software debuts here and provides the driver with different driving modes namely C (comfort), S (sport), M1 (manual) and M2 (an alternative manual mode that is claimed to shift up to 25 percent faster and with a more aggressive action than M1).
It also comes with a LSD.
Performance testing is not yet complete but Mercedes claims that this monster will sprint to 100 in less than 3.9 seconds. 0-200 will be completed in under 10 seconds ( :| ) and 0-300 in below 30 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 320km/h. Mercedes clearly claims that the only reason for limiting the top speed is the tires and not the aerodynamical efficiency of the body.
It completes the epic Nurburgring Nordschleife lap in 7 minutes and 46 seconds.
Wheel and tire setup: OZ forged aluminium wheels measure 19x9.5 in the front and 20x11.5 at the rear and are wrapped with 265/35ZR19 (front) and 325/30ZR20 (rear) Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT tires.
15.4 inch steel rotors with 6-piston calipers are the largest brakes AMG has ever used on a road-going model.
To the people who are wondering about the roof, it no longer is a retractable hard-top convertible. They replaced it with a fixed aluminium roof for added rigidity. (basically its no longer a roadster, but a coupe instead)

imagine hitting 300km/h in half a second!!! that must be the must exhilarating feeling in the world!!!
look at it from the rear, the 20x11.5 is no joke guys, thats some serious grip!!!!

but again if i had the money i dont no if i would buy this or a lp640...makes you want to think twice!!!
this car will definatly be a collectors item once its released.

awesome post TNT +1 :)
