Hey guys,

I have installed exhaust system on my Lexus 2ndGeneration IS300. The Brand is Tanabe and the volume is db93. A detective caught me while I was driving normally in the street of Aud Al Tuba. There was big traffic and It's impossible for me to make noise while driving. Even though the exhaust is not that noisy..

He took my driving license and vehicle license. I tried to talk to him, but he just was ignoring me and didn't want to listen to a word I say... I went to the Impounding area Explained to those guys over there this is not a noisy exhaust and they can take the car for a round and hear it out...

They were strongly refusing to check anything... Come'on this is suck they should get it to the checking area for the renewal of the vehicle... If those guys said it's noisy they have the right to impound it... Detective have the right to stop me but not the right to decide to impound my car... they are not tuners, car specialist or what ever..

I got my car out of the impound area 2 weeks ago, but still I would like to use this exhaust cause it's not cheap...

What plate number I could use to keep this exhaust installed on my car?

uae rule any modification in a car is illegal
changing anything from manufacturer specs means illegal

any after market brand even if they are street legal or certified by any governing body where is made and use in there car cant be the same here in UAE

like JASMA in japan is like RTA Body here in Dubai or the police

yes modding your car is not cheap, i suggest to make it simple or dont get caught.

good luck bro

The avatar I have is the stock car picture lol... I added one rear bumper kit to the car and wheels. I'm soon adding more body kits.

My car was impounded for 30 days my friend! and I got it out 2 weeks ago..

Well in this case I'll sell this exhaust since I can't use it... I'm not gonna keep it as an antic

So now modding has become expensive in a lot of ways :-)

Always keep some spare money in the budget to rent-a-car when they take away your car for a month :-)

"Detective have the right to stop me but not the right to decide to impound my car..."

Actually, in the UAE the cop has the right to be a judge. Remember that movie judge dread? lol. Same thing.

As for the Z06 thing, yes, if you bought an SRT8 and moded the hell out of it no one would annoy you. Cops know that large American cars make noise. And since a Z06 is already really noisy stock, you wont be given any BS.

The only real way to stop this from happening to you is to mod a car, and have a 2nd as a daily driver. Sadly, that means that your car will only be driven a few times a month, but... thats the best way.

As for plates. If your car is registered in say, UAQ, an Al Ain cop wont have the right to impound the car, but can still write you a ticket.

When I was in Dubai this Winter Break the cops stopped my brother in his Qatar platted GXR with "DABAA SOOAT" (the exhaust locals put on there landcruisers for sound, lol). The Cop said to follow him to the impound lot, my brother refused. In the mean while a CID stopped and talked to us, he was a nice guy and let us go, why I don't know. But he did tell us if things like this happen always ask for a "Captain" to check the sound out and drive with the cop to the Police Station so the Captain can decide.

Maybe in my brothers case he was lucky because he drives around in his GXR with Qatar plates, but in General there is always space to argue with the Cop your dealing with. BTW, most cops always give you a WARNING, without a ticket if you promise to remove the exhaust, and next time your caught it shows on the computer you have been given a chance and they charge you...

A Dubai cop cant impound a car properly insured and registered somewhere else. because, since you are legally insured and registered in that place, it means your ride is (or at least was) legal in that place.

In your brother's case, his plates were that of a different country. NO UAE police dept can impound your car unless you have an offense pending. IE, running a red light, hitting someone while they crossed the street...

I agree that you can always argue with the cops, and most will BS with you and let you go. And I cant speak for Dubai, but in AD, a cop's word is gold. I was once stopped for a mod. and the cop took my license, reg. and made me remove the mod, and bring it to the police dept. when I showed up, and he saw that the mod was odd, he gave me my cards back. No ticket.

Still, I just went home and put the mod back on. lol.
