Upgrading audio... ceased! (damn warranty)

I check the dealer when having 20km maintenance service today, any change (putting amp+sub or even head unit) can void the warranty. Though I don't know exactly if it's TOTAL warranty or only the related part (e.g. electrical for audio). So I guess I'd cancel installing amp+sub.

I wouldn't void the warranty if THEY install it, which is a BIG RIP OFF! The would charge 500 dhs only to change the head unit! WTF?

The problem is that I had replaced the head unit by myself just days after I bought the car last year. Even my head unit doesn't cost that much.

However, since then I did regular maintenance service 5km, 10km, 15km, and today 20km, but no one aware (or ask me) that I had replaced the head unit. Even they did to replace AC condenser (got ticking problem) at 10km, and didn't charge a cost to me. Means the warranty maybe still valid.

Now I'm confused.

Dealers will always say if you do anything on the car it will void the warranty and its only because they want all the work being done by them so they can make more money.

For example you changed the HU in ur car by urself, and if you think about it you warranty should be voided :S but if they installed the samething for you it wouldn't be? thats nonsense and its all a sales tactic.

I say go ahead and do the install, if shit hits the fan and the dealership says we void the warranty just tell them to prove it. if they cant tell them to eat shit or you will take it up with the region HQ for the dealership..just threaten them a bit hehehe....

Well when I brought my car I only knew after I paid that my car was a involved in an accident once.
Due to this they had worked on the AC condersor outside the Showroom.
This void the warranty for the AC system.
Anyways who the hell cares becoz my dad makes AC system for cars and he is been doing it for 30 years or more.
So yes it can void your warranty for the music system not the entire car.

Couple of weeks back I gave my car for service 50K. (I do service only is Showroom)
I called the supervisor specially to show him that the entire stuff from the front seat to the trunk is missing. (Seats, mats, panels, wiring, spare tires, moulding... )

I had removed them for sound proofing.

They did the service and gave it back to me.
:)

So its upto you. Since you are new with Car audio, better not test your luck.

You mean I should give it to the professional installer, or not to install at all (and wait for another 2 years!). I hope not the last one.

Let's say I better not to install extras. Any other mods that wouldn't void the warranty? Say, get new wheels, or do some paint job (like changing color on some parts or do airbrushing), or add skirt/sidestep, or replace the seat cover, etc?

Install by a pro so nothing goes wrong. The pro knows what he is doing and there isnt much space for error.
Start modding, u can change ur wheels tires, do airbrush.. but then dont expect the showroom to replace ur rims or repair ur car.. bcoz those are custom work.
I hope u get the idea.
