The term affordable and luxury rarely go together, unless it's a Japanese like a Lexus or Infiniti. Euro luxury rides are cheap to purchase, but a %#%$ to maintain.

I second Oz's comments.

The thing with RRs is that the electronics go faulty very often. People buy the car, drive it until warranty and dispose of it. You can find a hell lot like those on dubizzle but its really really a pain to keep them running. Even wear and tear parts are quite expensive.

Infiniti are great cars and quite sturdy too. They give you an excellent quality feel, rocket handling and solid reliability. The maintenance is a bit on the expensive side, but then again it is a luxury-sport vehicle. Lexus are on the same page as Infiniti.

Ive heard that maintenance of a RR is as expensive as maintaining a Mercedes...so yeah its expensive. However i wonder if we have any members over here who owned RRs before who can confirm stuff like availability of used spare parts etc in the sharjah market which would effect ppls decision in buying a used RR.

What the others said. If you can't afford a new RR, don't buy one. Once the warranty expires, you are f*cked. They are unreliable for the most part and get a lot of wear and tear. I've seen 1-2 year old RRs with exterior rubber seals melting/bubbling and steering wheel leather getting damaged.
They are great SUVs, no doubts there but they are just not built to last. Buying a 2004 would be like your wallet committing suicide.

You'd rather pick up the RR instead of the Porche Cayenne, i.e. if you are focusing on off road abilities. Porche doesnt make the situation better in terms of expenses.

Merc C/E are pretty alright i guess. Again, European. If you are ok with high depreciation, low resale and warranty repairs then i guess you can go ahead! But then again, history check would be good!

I've only heard bad things about RR's. They are unreliable period...

Haven't heard the same for Porsche Cayenne's though. I am looking around for a Cayenne S or GTS...The servicing is not that bad from the stealership...

The new FX50 S is tits...thats on my list as well

The only person who likes RR is Jeremy Clarkson.

Add me to the list ^ RRs are good vehicles but just not reliable enough.

@Tamu: What is it with you and crossovers?

@TNT: if it was upto me I would pickup a C63, a GTR or a Z06!! But I am getting married in december, and the car now has to be "approved" by the wife and it HAS to be a SUV because I am not letting that nut case drive a small car in this country....Hence why the cross overs are on my mind. I want a fast SUV, but it should look good too...Any idea's guys?
