So it was around 1:00 am and we were in Ajman Corniche just after Kempenski hotel...My friend had a 1.8 corolla and I had an 2.4 accord... after the roundabout we both slaped the gas pedal and the strange thing is that his corolla won..2 times  we raced from 40-130 km/h...and he was still pulling away..he had no mods! lol from now on I'll never underestimate any car :D

Any opinions of what shall I do to win him next time? :P

Suggestions:

a) puncture his tire
b) secretly modify your own car, but claim its stock
c) kick him in the nuts (really hard). Then run off and start the race....

sad to know abt it. but its tru, corolla 1.8 aint a slow car. i remember, i had raced with a corolla 1.8 on emirates road in my accord 07. he pressed the pedal before me but he was goin far n far i crossed him at 190-200.
1.8 is fast man...
(my accord is faster than other 07 and 08 accords, i have raced a few times)

1L Petrol seems to be 0.73722kg
so a full tank (around 50L) = 36.861kg

so if we drive wid near empty tank... mebbe i can beat other 08 accord which is got full tank of petrol and a driver who is double ma weight.... :D

i think i shud consider goin to a gym to los som kgs... :D

hehe... jus jokin man... hope u take it in the rite sense

try to remove your spare tire, race with an empty tank of petrol, no passengers, all electronics off(AC, cruise control, radio, etc), keep your windows closed, install a turbo charger, turn your lights off...if that doesnt work you can allways kick him in the nuts (Y)

I love the corolla's esp the 1.8s their nippy and can take on most cars cos of the short wheel base and its light. If its a manual corolla even better on turns only this is the older corollas didnt have ABS so they suffered in races or speeding they could not brake in time and would get locked.

I had 2 corollas one was a 92 and 04. They were very good and both manual. If you drive them well they can take on most average sedans in traffic. Straight line its iffy. But i once raced my friends Hyundai coupe 05 lol and that thing sounded great but i took him on every gear. Even burned the tires at the start...(lol love manuals)

No way a stock 1.8 can beat a 2.4.

Step 1: Remove your fridge, your bed, your back seats, your girlfriend, or whatever you have weighing down your car.

Step 2: Change to a more aggressive shifting program (don't know how that's done in a Civic, it could be disabling overdrive, changing to sports mode, or just flooring the gas pedal).

Step 3: Use left-foot-breaking start (keep the car still by breaking with your left foot while revving the engine with your right, then lift off the left foot while increasing the gas to shoot your car forward).

Beat him, or Takahashi Ryosuke will kick YOU in the nuts!

On turns i can understand, but on the straights it shouldnt come close. The corolla is light however as daarklord said unless you have a really heavy sound system at the back it should really not happen.

You might wanna get some1 to check on your accord's engine or transmission.

Flash news! It has already happened! Not only this once but way too many times.
daarklord wrote: Step 1: Remove your fridge, your bed, your back seats, your girlfriend, or whatever you have weighing down your car.
Not a good idea. If you remove the fridge, you cant have your cool drinks in there to cool down after you lose. Bed is very important especially if it is your shagging wagon. Back seats maybe - but only to make way for the Fridge ,Bed and the Microwave. Girlfriend??? are you serious? You got to have atleast a couple of em in there. Definitely!!

The aggressive shifting program does not come standard with the 2.4 Vtec Accord. It is only available as an option and cannot be done at Trading enterprises but need to be sent to Nagoya, Japan.

Cannot do that with one of your foot in your mouth. very difficult unless you have a third foot holding the brake while you jump the rev limiter. Something might shoot off eventually if not your car.

And why did I say all this rubbish above. Because sometimes I like to be an a**hole.
