Hello everybody,
I am new to this forum and just wanted to say hello.
Moved to Dubai in October 2010 and have just found out about this forum now.
Mainly interested in Japanese cars in general and classic 1970´s and 1980´s Japanese cars specifically.
I will be checking through this forum´s previous threads for like minded people but if you are reading this and are also interested in classic JDM please introduce yourself.
I am from Northern Ireland (U.K.) and used to a plentiful supply of right hand drive JDM imports. Notice things are different here and availability of older Japanese cars are normally U.S. market models.
Also, coming from Ireland where there are the most Hachi-Roku´s outside of Japan it is a little strange to find them absent here. Saw a red Trueno for sale here. It had been converted to full JDM look complete with black Watanabe´s. Looked absolutely mint but a bit out of my budget at the moment plus I am looking for more of a project car and this AE86 looked nicely finished and MINT.
So, that is me. I will be on here regularly asking a lot of questions and hopefully answering some if I can be of help.
Looking forward to hearing from like minded people and happy to be a new member of this community.

Welcome mate, that red Hachi is now my project car. It's totally in pieces, and the engine is coming out today. Can you get parts from Ireland?

How about that for a coincidence!
What do you need for the Hachi?

What you got?

Interior? Dash, instrument binnacle? (LHD)

Final drive? Engine and tranny mounts? Brake lines?

You will not get anything that is left hand drive specific.
Everything else should be easy enough to source although its rarity means $$$
...also, if you need it soon it will probably cost you a fortune on postage.
Don´t think slow post by slow boat is too expensive but you will have to wait for about a month.
AE86´s are a religion in Ireland (North and South) and have been since the 1980´s.
Check out AE86irl.com - it is the only site I can remember at the moment. There is even an all-girl AE86 Club in Ireland.
If you have no joy let me know. Make a list of what you need and I can email some friends.

http://ae86girls.webs.com/

Might not be able to get any parts from these girls but they have some nice rides and its worth a look if you are into Hachi-Rokus.
Make a list of the parts you need and I will get a price for you as soon as I can.

Engine rebuild. Want it reliable for daily street performance and occasional track, but must be able to handle daily summer driving. Porting polishing, and all that stuff.

BTW, did you own an AE86 in Ireland? There was a James with a Panda Hachi in the latest issue of Japanese Performance, the one with the mental blue RX7 FD on the cover...

Fahrer, spoke to a friend who is "in-the-know" concerning AE86´s in Ireland and he says that he knows of a few people who might have LHD shells. They bought them as complete cars from Sweden or Norway (or somewhere) for mechanicals and body parts so maybe dashboards are still in them as it is unlikely they would have been used.
Is your dash black or the funky blue one?
