Welcome to Dubai
Jealous of your S13 man, i've seen one here, but I dont know.. it has 180.000 km's on the odo.. If you go out at night to places mentioned here, you'll see several skylines... Even hanging around Satwa and beach road will give a nice view on imports..
Welcome to the site man! You running a SR20DET powered Silvia?

Unfortuntaly mikeh the s13, s14 and the very few s15s did not come with sr20det engines. the '89 -'90 s13's came with ka24e single cam engine and the s13's from 1990.5 through 1994 had ka24de dual cam engine, both forms 2.4 liter. also mine is a 1992 coupe with the flip lights, the standard silvia never made it to the U.S. My plans for the 240 are to rebuild the engine and turbocharge it, even though the standard engine can be made pretty powerful with just the i/h/e and ecu. newayz whut do u drive mikeh? and shalashaska i'm already in dubai.

Yeah, i think they don't come with the SR already, but that's another reason to swap it?
These days I drive a modestly tuned N/A Hyundai Coupe, the V6 version.. But i'm going to aqcuire a 2 liter turbo'd beast one of these days.. More info will follow..

Cool, ur Hyundai Coupe is acutally called a Hyundai Tiburon back home (tiburon is spanish for shark, hence the "gills" on the side of the fender) and their known for great handling, and i'd rather not swap in the sr engine cause everybody and their mother wants to do that swap, plus ka's make way better torque numbers when hooked up than sr's, and troque wins races not just horsepower. Also shal,im acutally staying with my uncle who lives here. i don't know the excat location but i do know that we are about 15 mins from his job, which is were i'm at right now the Fairmont Hotel.(he don't got a cpu at home). However we did pass Jumeriah two nights ago itz quite beautiful.

Yeah, a hyundai coupe is a tiburon in US, and a Tuscani in korea.. and Hyundai Coupe in Europe and here in middle east.. And yeah.. I have tuscani badges
I read that the KA24 engine can br brought upto a pretty good 280+whp, with a modest amount of boost.. like 10PSI only.. which is not bad.

ya but people usually boost theirs to just 5 or 7 psi but i want a reliable engine that can run high boost thats y im rebuiling it, i'm aiming for around 300 -400hp that much horsepower will beat at least 75% of the cars on the street back home.
I have a couple friends here with 200 and 240sx's
some had the CA18DET(200) or KA24DE(240)
SR20's are dirt cheap in Uae...
my friend bought his blacktop SR for 1800 DHS (around $450) the same swap in USA is like 4,000 dollars!
but then they got smart some canadian guys came out and bought them all up, and is sellin em like 4000-5000dhs now IF u can find em..
so they gave up on SR here and Started goin for RB20DET..
Iron block.. 6cyl 200hp.. and can take big shots of No2.. and it's DIME A DOZEN!
seems every altima, corolla, datsun, etc has an RB20 around here.. i even saw an E30 bmw with an RB20..

So the SR20's are not that cheap anymore Too bad..
The RB20 is not bad, but I guess the SR's have more potential.. RB's, aside from the Godzilla engine RB26DETT itself never made it that big..

yea an sr did cross my mind but it got to expensive cuz the every1 wanted one. the rb20 swap also crossed my mind but then i thought y would i go down in liters 2.4>2.0 even though it is an inline 6, plus those motors are a little older. i even considered a rb25, the only problem with all these swaps is that back home if something went wrong with the motors i would have to ship overnite parts form japan which costs $$$$$. the only one worth doing is the rb26dett and thats if i had the money.

I think you can get a fairly low-milage RB25DET for a pretty good amount of money.. I drove a skyline with one of those engines, and from 3000RPM and up it puts you nicely in your seat, even if you want it or not.. Then taking into account that the Silvia is a pretty lightweight car, should have a nice effect..slydwayzs13 wrote:the only one worth doing is the rb26dett and thats if i had the money.
Why an RB25? It's the underdog engine, true it may not have the numbers that an RB26 pushes, but I see it as a cheap replacement.. The 26 is being so tuned and tuned again that it became the ultimate engine, performance wise and price-wise.. The 25 produces a healty 300+ hp, with a bit of tuning.. which is not bad.. And that all without internal work.
In the end, it's better to play with an "already turbo'd" engine, then putting boost on your KA24 N/A powerplant..
Plus, all of us love the sound of a BOV.. I do atleast
Edit: Additionally, if you guys wanna meet up, do it at the UAQ drifting event in a few days.. I won't be there, i'm currently in Qatar for a week and a bit..
