Meng u can OVERCLOCKED ur PC .. but its not advisable if u dont know how to do it .... 2.8 GB is not bad .. its all good ... all u have to do is do some upgrade and change some parts from ur PC ... change ur RAM, Power Supply, CPU Fan and put some Heatsinks and extra Fans ... i bet ur RAM is juz an ordinary RAM that they give if u buy it in computer shops .. Look for a DDR400 PC3200 Kingston Ram and also put some heatsinks for better cooling (da lower temp the higher performance) make ur Ram 1GB ... change ur stock Power supply to a 400-500 watts power supply so dat u get sufficient flow of voltage to every parts of ur PC (get a power supply with a bigger fan for better cooling) ... also change ur stock CPU fan to an Aero or a Gigabite CPU Fan (get a fan dat is compatible to ur CPU) ... also for better cooling ... get an extra fan for exhaust to release teh warm air circulating inside ur CPU ...

Maybe clean our your PC a bit.. a PC with those specs ain't bad at all.

Don't have a lot of programs start at startup, like real, winamp, skype...

Yeah, what mike said PLUS don't forget to defragment your hard drive. and if possible, keep your Windows installed drive seperate from you MP3, Video and Media files i.e. C:\ for windows and programs, D:\ for images, mp3s and so on...

remember to have your windows updated also... check for security patches .. its free... and get a good antivirus , and anti spyware program..

and clean up your start up.. this way you can start your PC faster by unloading diff. softwares that affect your start up..

upgrade also yor ram.. and dont install unnecesarry softwares.. this will just fu&**d up your registry..

Bad idea, if it will be done by windows update. He will get that pirated copy warning popup for the rest of his life (unless he has an original one, or formats pc.)...

Just update manualy... download them from the Windows website one by one... just avoid downloading "Windows Genuine Notification Tool"... stay away from it like it's a hooker with STDs.

edit: I just don't want you guys to go through it too... a very traumatic experience. Sam knows what i'm talkin about.
