The max you'll get out of a 512 kbps connection is 62 if you're lucky, 59 otherwise. That's because of our amazingly anal proxy, among other reasons. Are you paying AED 189 per month, because that's what I'm paying.

I have the 1 Mbps connection and it is still slow
To check your download speed, divide your allocated bandwidth (not the LAN connection max) by 8.
For eg. You subscribed for an Etisalat 512 kbps package, your download speed will be:
512/8 = 64 kbps
If it is 1 mbps (aka 1024 kbps)
1024/8 = 128 kbps
hater has a 7.2 mbps connection thus:
7200/8 = 900 kbps will be his download cap
Hope this helps.

Then what difference is it? they're all rubbish and they dont even give you 1/2 the speed? Im getting ripped off basically..Ozimandius wrote:The max you'll get out of a 512 kbps connection is 62 if you're lucky, 59 otherwise. That's because of our amazingly anal proxy, among other reasons. My average download speed is around 100kb+ and max was around 350kb.TNT wrote: 7200/8 = 900 kbps will be his download cap
Any idea why this is happening?
No you are not exactly getting ripped off, read my post.ROJ wrote:Then what difference is it? they're all rubbish and they dont even give you 1/2 the speed? Since you have a USB modem, the speed it is connected at will vary. If it is connected at the max 7.2 mbps, then you'll be getting 900 kbps max download.hater999 wrote:My average download speed is around 100kb+ and max was around 350kb.TNT wrote: 7200/8 = 900 kbps will be his download cap

Just put one file on download (not multiple) and check what your download speed is. 350 means that your USB modem was connected at 2.8 mbps approx.
Constant speeds aren't guaranteed with wireless connections, its just like your mobile phone. You won't have 100% signal all the time everywhere.
Yep, it was around 2.8TNT wrote: Just put one file on download (not multiple) and check what your download speed is. 350 means that your USB modem was connected at 2.8 mbps approx.
So this will happen, even with a Wireless broadband internet connection?TNT wrote: Constant speeds aren't guaranteed with wireless connections, its just like your mobile phone. You won't have 100% signal all the time everywhere.
