Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy.........!!!!!
On Etisalat’s site there is a 16Mbps home broadband connection listed, price AED549 per month.
The 16Mbps package is one of the “heavy user” options. I wonder if that’s for users who are actually heavy or for those who use the internet a lot?
Hehe
Just couldn’t resist…
Apparently this requires GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) or Fiber Optical connection, which is still of very limited availability across the Emirates.

heavy as in real heavy guys.. over 100 kilos.. coz those nerds just sit there on the comp and make sure that every bit of those sixteen mega bits are actually reaching their computers.. its a daunting task... but i believe the pricing is like all time.. unjustified compared to international standards.

Since all Broadband is good for is downloading movies ( ), I wonder who exactly would go for such a package. I'm 8 hours at work, the rest in the traffic and last few hours of the day with family before I fall unconscious That is definitely a dream package for me if I were at home all day. I guess the download speed with that one would be around 2MB/s?

Well Im at 140 kilos, So I should get this service for free!
Truthfully though, I have the 6Mb package and I only ever get 1/2 of that. Many people complain about this. I dont see any reason to pay 550 AED for 7ish Mb.

Technically Thats Right ..Neo wrote:Sorry, i have to correct you, that would be 2048 KB/ Sec or 2.048 MB/sec or 16 Mb/sec...
Well Neo We Are'nt That Lucky,
I Have A 4MB Right Now And The Maximum Speed I Get is 420 KBPS..
So On 16 MBPS I Should B Gettin 420 x 4 = 1680 KPS .. IF M LUCKY ..!!
But Since 16MBPS is Over Fiber Optical Line, Which is More Reliable Then Normal ADSL On Telephone Lines, Then There Might B A Chance Of Getting 1700 + Kbps ..
I've Already Applied For It .
I'll Let u Know As Soon As I Get It...

Thats becoz all these are shared.. thanks to etisalat
Well in my 512 line i get most to the time 64KBPS download thru bitcomet torrent download.
64 aint a big number and can be sustained.. but when it comes to 2MBPS, that is lot of bandwidth to sustain... once again i suggest you try downloading torrents with huge number of seeds to know whether you are really getting the bandwidth... i am sure you will..
I tired the 3.5G wireless device which is used in our company...
Wow!!! 7.5 Mbps... i guess i got almost the same speed.
But recently everyone opted for the 3.5G and now the same issue.. cant get full bandwidth...
