Hey, it is just if you really go offroading with the Jk. If you manly stay onroad, nothing will happen!
The JK has an Dana 35 front axle and factory fitted 32” tires. If you stay for this tire size, you are quite safe. If you go for 33” or even 35”, it is just a matter of time till the axle housing will break! Always between the diff and the axle housing at the right side. I know 50 Jk offroader with different setups for tires and suspicion. Only 2 person did not have an issue with the front axle! Most of the offroaders ar saying, there are two options for the front axle reinforcement (as Tommy woods for example)

Option 1: do it after you broke your axle
Option 2 : do it before you break it

I had a JK for 1 year and broke it after my 3 advanced trip run in Swaihan!

I dont say this to scare you! It is just an hint to avoid damages on you beloved ride!!

Re-gear with bigger tyres and you'll be fine.
There is no real point going above 31-32" IMO (for dune-bashing). Just get some near stock size Michelins with a 1.5-2" lift, good shocks, filter and you are good to go.

To regear the R&P helps to the the lost tourqe back but not to prevent the axle housing bending.

You are right, there is no big advantage in performace with tire size 33"-35"-37" but they look damn cool

Agreed

I've never honestly heard of axle housing getting damaged because of bigger tyres on the JK.
You should join Dubai4x4.com, lots of Jeepers and Jeep-haters there.

Have heard stories about the r&p when going for bigger tyres but I don't intend to do that and will be giving it a 2.5'' lift only.I still need to grow a pair to abuse it in the sand

WKZ, I don't want to scare you, but from my expriance in offroading for now 4 years (2 times a months) I can tell you the JK front axle housing is weak. it is an dana 30 and even with factory size in my opinion criticl.

If you want to prevent damages you can reinforce the axle with inner sleeves and outer reinforcement

Here is the usual crack. you can see an oil leak if bent or cracked.

Here are several forums discusions about the dana 30 JK axle housing!

http://www.jk-forum.com/archive/index.php/t-149992.html

Or here: Quote: "With 35-inch-plus tires and only moderate wheeling, the factory '07-'10 Wrangler front axlehousings are known to bend, even on the Rubicon model. There are several weld-in aftermarket kits available to sleeve the inside of the front axletube for more strength"

You don't need R&P till 34-35" tires. If you go for an 2,5" lift, I dought very much that this tires are ok for this lift. With 2,5" lift you need wide tires to prevent an death wobble (googel it and you will understand)

This is an death wobble: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwiv23dL ... r_embedded

Cooper STT Cheap (800AED) and you can go down to 6 PSI without an risk of pop off tire (side wall) AND look damn cool!

The nittros are nice as well but check the prize (1250AED) and you will change your mind!

You need wide tires. min 265 to prevent an death wobble!!
