What's up, guys.
It's been a while since I posted here.

Anyway, I'm currently using a set of 205/55 R16 wheels in my 2006 Civic EXI.
Now the other day I saw this Civic VTI wearing 205/45 R16 wheels. Yes, they are the stock rims but with 205/45 tires instead. And I kinda like the way it looks.
Now before I push through with this experiment I would appreciate some feedback on the following:
-Advantages
-Disadvantages
-Price of tires

Waiting for your feedback. =)

Images of the car can be seen here:

And when's the next major UAE Boost meet?

No disadvantages whatsoever, if you like the look go for it.
About the price, well the rule of thumb is that lower profile tires are generally more expensive. I don't think it'll matter much though, the price difference won't be huge and it's not that you'll be changing tires every year.

If you change to that size, expect more tyre spin than current setup during hard launch, and a slight difference between the speed you're travelling at and what the speedo tells you; i.e. when the speedo says 120kph you'll be travelling at 117~118kph. And the ride would be bumpier as bigger tyres are better at absorbing bumps on uneven roads as compared to low profile tyres.

Hmmm... Does this mean I will also have a hard time on off-road terrain?

Yes, all the shocks and vibrations will be harder than before and you'll have less ground clearance too.

Is that so? :(
But what about those guys who lower their cars?

People who lower their cars do have low ground clearance (obvious)
Shocks and vibrations really won't be all that much unless you are very anal about them.

I'm not planning to alter my suspension.
I just think having slightly thinner tires/tyres looks cool.
I saw that Civic again today. From a distance it doesn't look that different from mine... though it wears 205/45 R16s instead of 205/55 R16s like mine.

Hmmm... It may take a while before I change my tires again.

of course its the 205/55/r16.

changing the tire profile without lowering your ride will just widen the gap between the tires and the fender..

lower it a bit and your good to go.. you dont want your car to look like an electrocuted cat from the cartoons right?
