Don't forget profile. Your stock size 205/55-16 will have a much smaller diameter than 225/55 and 215/55.
With 225 width, you should ideally go for 225/50-16.

Heya Guys...

well this is an interesting topic, i changed my wheels (rims) from stock 18's to after market konig 18's, the one mistake i did was not change the tyres...they remained stock.

The shop guy while replacing the wheels installed the spacers...actually i had no clue what he was doin...all i knew was that i needed a new set of wheels!!...so what i faced afterwards is that...coz of the spacers the tyres of coz bulges out of the body...not so much but enough to make the body rub agains the tyre wall...

The solutions to this was either roll the fenders or get low profile tyres...myn are 45's so i went for 40's....this actually did fix the problem but not all of it...

Now...do you really have to install SPACERS when installing new wheels (Rims)...?

how do you decide what size of spacers you require?...and make sure there is no body rubbing or any other problem?

Many things need to be taken into consideration while buying spacers:

- wheel width/size
- tire size
- wheel offset

thats before you get the spacers...my other question was if you HAVE to install spacers when changing from stock wheels to aftermarket....

the best 1st thing to do is to check the size of your rims then the offset and lastly the tires...

i hope this help (it helps me a lot)

Normally the rim size will be like this > 17 x 7.5 x 114.3

17 = diameter size
7.5 = width
114.3 = thread pattern

below are the width sizes that tyres will fit...

7 = 215 - 225
7.5 = 225 - 235
8 = 235 - 245

so if your stock rim is 17 x 7 x 114.3, you can put a tyre size like 225/45/17

i'm no expert but i hope this help.

:grin:

Measure how much tire you can stick out without rubbing anything, then buy spacers of similar size.
