1 set of tyres, 2 different brands for the front and rear?

Wheels, tires, suspensions, brakes etc.

Is it a bad idea to use a different brand of tyres in the front, and a different one for the rear, even though they're the same profile?

As some of you may know, I've been looking for 205/45 R15 and 205/50 R15 tyres for my Miata, and I found one set of Falken ZE912s, but the shop was run by an unhelpful moron, so I continued searching until I went back to my trusty Nitto dealer, Formula tyres.

He has 3 Nitto NT555s and 2 Falken ZE912s. The Nittos are for AED 300 each, while the Falkens are AED 250 each.

Considering I drive the car every weekend for 40 kms or so, and participate in track days twice a year, is it a good idea to go for such a combo?

AFAIK, No, as long as, their ratings(speed) and size are the same. I don't see anything wrong on that.
