Newbie to the world of Civics - now shopping for new rubber.

96 Hatch, currently running 195/50R15 82V.

Brand doesn't interest me much right now - my question is about size.

I plan on dropping 1~1.5" later on, so I need to guess-timate if the wheels will fit...

From the current 195/50R15 it does seem there's enough room to lower the suspension without rubbing issues, but how wider can I go? I like the sound of 215/45R15.

Thanks for any advice! 8)

Rims look like this:

Hey Tamu - thanks man, it caught my fancy, too. I love the plain stock look on the outside, and with this colour it's not plain enough to be mistaken for Miss Daisy going shopping.

I got the back seats folded down so the two amps mounted to their backs can breathe happily... I think I'm quick becoming a hatch fan!

Just started the inquiry; it'll have to be through the Abu Dhabi distributor for Continental Tyres, since I need to review them anyways. I contribute to the motoring section for a magazine so at times I can mix business with pleasure ;)

What's the word on the street on Continentals?

i ride on continentals.... being on them from 2004 ......
u cant go wider than 205 on 15 inch rims.... im looking for new set of tires too for my car.
theres a new tire come to town - the Bridgestone Adrenaline .... u might really like tht. cauz i really do... its out of stock they say....
ive got the conti premium contact ... n they've been amazing - from day 1 - except - NOISE - very noisy tires .....
on 15 inch rims - the most u can upgrade to ... is "205 "
but im sticking with 195/55 R15
im thinking of getting the premium contact 2 tires.... but again noisy .....

how wide the tire you can go , it depend on your rim width , 205 should be ok with 6.5 or 7 rim width , i'm not sure , not really remember , you may need to check it again .

the Bridgestone Adrenaline is good perforance tires , a lot of guy using this on local autoX these day , nice !! (Y)

If you are not changing your wheels, 205 might be the widest you can go...just check the inside of your wheels and see the numbers stamped on it...if it shows 15x6.5 then you can go up to 205 only but if it shows 15x7 then you can go up to 215...but that does not mean you will not have rubbing issues...

Going to a wider tire might need to adjust the offset of your rims also to avoid this rubbing issues.

if you can do body work then go 225 ;)

any ways 215 205, 195 or 225 - whatever i would advice you for goin with 40 ,r15 (if on same rims)

looks nice the low profiles... and you can lower more with them...

FYI - the first number (eg. 215,195,225,205) refers to the tire width...
the second number (eg. 40,45,50,55) talks about the tire height and
the most popular last 2 digits shout out your rim size!

good luck and cute ride by the way! (Y) :D

i would advice you to have 16" rims - 5 poke - white colour - will look awesome on your car!
is it a manual or auto? details? 17" will be too much

and you need a type r spoiler - hard to find but not impossible - go sharjah shopping ;) scraps...

or you could have it made i guess...

195/55/15 is the best, you could go 205.50.15 too.
nothing wider ... and you wont need anything wider, not unless your running a turbo :-)
