Hi All, I gave my '06 Tiida to Arabian Auto for its 80k service, and the guy called back saying my bushes in the left front axle was cracked, but wasn't urgent, so I could do it in the next service...he said it'll cost AED 1,200!! Is that normal?! Goddamn parts cost more than the servicing. If I sell all my parts one by one, I think I'll buy 2 Tiidas at the money I get. This is crazy.

Thanks Rogue, that's exactly what I need. ROJ, he didn't mention the discount to me, weird, let me call him and torment him! I do nothing with my car except going to work and returning home, all via Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed Road, don't even park my car on sand :( I'll call AA up and ask them how much are they charging for labour, as FastTrack are cheaper that way, but part prices remain the same.

And by the way, FastTrack doesnt accept customer parts. Make sure they have Nissan parts.

Customer parts, as in, provided by customers? They asked my brother to get the parts for his Nissan Altima when he went to them to change his brakepads, but he insisted in them getting it directly from the Arabian Auto Spare Parts division.

As long as ur car is doing its job properly & nothing feels weird & ur not taking ur car to some extreme levels of driving then dont bother to listen to silly comments like changing ur bushes & such.. some people drive on the same bushes for a whole lifetime.. & at such a low mileage i doubt u need new bushes...

Yeah, I never do anything outta the ordinary with it, it wouldn't be able to withstand the torture anyway. I spoke to AA, they said they'll call me tomorrow with the discounted rates.

My car's 80k service is done, cost me AED 859!

About the parts themselves, they're the bushes for the front axle, both sides, left and right, and they're made of rubber, and cost of the parts themselves is AED 1234, and the labor for this AED 617.

The total is AED 1904, but following a 45% discount on parts, and 15% on labor, it comes to 1286.

Nope. Will only pay service charges, but put the replacement of the Axle bushes on hold. Even if I source these parts from somewhere else, I doubt I'd get a 45% discount on them. Second problem is that if I try to get these replaced after Ramadan, I won't get the discounts! :(

I'll see if I can purchase the parts with discount from Nissan, and then get them installed at Fast Track.

i dunno y people go to dealerships man .. if u know ur cars ... there's no need of a dealership to tell u the problem of the car ..
and knowing cars is not in born u have to learn it through experience

Well, it's like how I know PCs, but don't know cars, and to save myself the hassle, I go to the stealership. Plus it adds to resale value (dunno by how much though).

But I draw the line sometimes...which is why I created this thread. I felt they were ripping me off. Btw, Arabian Auto did suffer from the recession much like any other organization here, so they don't work on Fridays (it was so much more convenient to drop my car off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon!), and don't pay their Service technicians/agents/reps overtime...and increases weekdays from 0600 to 2100, which is crazy.
