I drive like a grandma, Accord98 - you wouldn't enjoy it...
I've heard from some buddies and it looks like it's going to be quite a BBQ!!!!
Just one golden rule before we even start off - the danger with dunes is the inclines. A 4x4 is very stable pointing up or down - it does not like to lean over on the side: that's when you roll.
So, especially on the long dune face, you go up straight, as steep as you like, no problems - and you reverse down straight backwards, no problems.
DO NOT drive up and turn around and drive back down frontwards! That is an advanced technique requiring a good feel for momentum and your car's power - you may see some pros do it, please don't copy unless you also are a pro with experience.
If you go up the long dune face, you drive straight up, you slowly reverse straight back down. That's safe.
See this video clip to see what I mean: http://img531.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... olljm2.flv

See ya all there, I'm a newbie to 4x4ing ... So add me to the newbie list pls. A friend of mine will join in his FJ ... He's experienced so I guess he'll be with the pros.
Is there a street number or gps coordinate to the spot PR? I'm not able to see the image properly on my phone.

Very good point..... one im sure to follow. I have this fear of tumbling and rolling, so u definitely wont see me doing itJust one golden rule before we even start off - the danger with dunes is the inclines. Yup! It's going to be good!!!
I'll be with the newbies, don't worry - but you'll also find Dubai Desert Club and Dubai4x4 club members very helpful as well.
BTW, just because someone belongs to a 4x4 club, it doesn't mean he's an expert - could be a newbie as well.
We'll take it easy, enjoy the friendship, the BBQ, the sun set, and drive a bit within our limits. I drive carefully all the time anyways (it might not seem "carefully" but it is... ) - I don't do stupid.
But I do need to test that puppy...
