The RS Clio is a fantastic car: looks great, as fast as the Type R and GTi and at a price of 88k its a STEAL!

Both are great:
Eclipse is a sensible daily driver, smooth, quiet, comfortable, good for the highway and auto
Clio is a great track machine, not that great for daily driving but it rewards you with superb handling, braking etc.

Bigger engine does not equal better performance usually, but the Clio handles better than the Eclipse. Have you factored in maintenance, cost of parts, etc.? I've heard Habtoor Motors are pants, but I could be wrong.

It's above his budget I believe, but I agree with AT. But here's the thing, if you'll worry so much about resale, you'll rarely purchase a car you'll enjoy driving. Case in point, the gazillion Hondas and Nissans and Toyotas on the roads.
Bottomline, you're young, and have a budget. Purchase a car you'll enjoy driving, while prioritizing the following according to your tastes:
1) Driving experience
2) Comfort
3) Resale value
4) Short term costs
5) Long term costs
6) Safety
7) Brand name
Style & Design
etc.

Eclipse is a reliable car, good daily driver, a good resale value, pimped out and its automatic only..
Clio is a proper dedicated track car, its not as quiet or as reliable as a Japanese car and its spare parts are a bit pricey as far as i heard, plus the resale is poor... Its only manual..
If you plan to go for an everyday driver then the eclipse is a good choice.. but if you seek a proper performance car with proper racing equipment to take on track on occasions then the clio is your choice but you would want to stick to it on a long run since the resale is poor..
Renault have grown much reliable than the past since their alliance with nissan and this current clio is based on the nissan micra... Do some research see how reliable and costy the clio is... I also heard they give with the clio a 3 year unlimited warranty that covers maintenance and parts even on track so you can get it enjoy it for 3 years and then sell it?!?
IMO, if you want the clio then you be generous and take good care of it, its not like a japanese car which you can just neglect, the less you service it the more problematic it gets.. If you ask me: "if you ever owned a fiat or alfa romeo here in the UAE and survived then you can survive anything...."

Oh.. Then I believe I should get the eclipse.. It's better in terms of maintenance and service, but guys the eclipse is made in USA, should this affect the durability of the car coz it's not Made in japan?
