Toyota has kept this in mind n designed a car around this idea so that you can play around with it but if u don't want to its still a good enough sporty car for fun and daily run !
^you must be having the supra in mind when you have made the above statement! But do you know that this car has direct injection and a high compression ratio. I believe this to be the case which is why I am disappointed. Modding options are limited for high compression engines.

This car is perfect as it is!! It is well balanced sports car.. I want one..

& those complaining about power out-put, it is sufficient... Once you take it around the corners you will praise it for its power out-put that wouldn't get you killed.. In the end of the day it is a driver's car and it comes to play on corners..

Im sure it handles better than all of the rivals at such price range, not to mention its light weight.. This is probably the only affordable mass produced RWD driver's car so far..

“We visited with car enthusiasts in Japan, America and Europe. The feedback we received was almost always the same. They said there are a lot of sports cars with high horsepower that are very fast, but these are not the sports cars that they want to have. They want small compact cars that are controllable, that they can tune themselves. However, that kind of sports car is not on the market. Therefore, these sports car enthusiasts are forced to continue to use older cars from a long time ago, because there is no new alterative on the market.”

tis a good read... (Y)

I don't care what performance numbers it churns out. I'm quite happy on the fact that it is being built on the spirit of building a car, and not just for the sake of sales number with dumbed down engineering *cough* zelas *cough* camry in a 2 door dress *cough*.

It's light, little electronic gizmos, 6sp manual, RWD, low CG, affordable (insert Al-futaim joke here).

whether you're disappointed or not, Let toyota have the GT86, just as much as Chevy got the Corvette, Ford got the shelby, Merc got the S-class, Jeep got the wrangler, porsche got the 911, etc.

Let it become a lineage for greater and much enjoyable cars to come out from Toyota in the future and hopefully Honda follows suit, and i hope it never be a dim lit candle that will meet the same fate as supra did. So don't Hate, just Appreciate.

speaking of Ford.... a late year end model V-6 305HP Stang, 6sp manual goes for 60K-70K AED :S but given that it weighs in a hefty 1700kg. so i really hope al-futaim price it right.

Driving lost it soul during this decade with all this technological gadgetry that made the sh1tiest drivers manage to lazily drive over-powered cars with ease... Many cars lost their driving experience, you feel like its driving you.. Drivers got dumbed down, not only cars..

At last we got a mass production RWD car with a soul & it is sold for a reasonable price tag.

Its al futtaim's loss if they heavily price it..

Where is dyna trade when we need 'em??

I'm in for a group buy if y'all planning to get it around 2013. We may get a discount from Al-Futtaim, I know a friend got it when they bought LX 470s.

How do you know, did you drive the 86 and compare it to how the Z drives???

Looking at the specs, it should handle better than a Z & prove to be a more engaging drive.. Not to mention it is more affordable than the Z.. The weight ratio is some: 53:47 & kerb weight is 1180kgs.. I would look forward for a test drive and see how it really goes..

TBH, the last breed of cars that are equivalent to this 86 are probably the Honda S2000 and the Mazda Mx5... Small, lightweight, well balanced sports cars with the right amount of everything from power/weight/handling..

If Al Futtaim doesnt price it proper I hope Dynatrade does. I will be getting mine from there.

I should have the money saved up by then.

Hold on i remember Dynatrade selling toyota parts not cars. PS they also sell used cars.

A quick look on their website looks like they only sell light trucks.

Is this correct or have they started selling new Toyotas?

They have a division called GCCI or something. They are the agents for Oman and bring vehicles from there and sell in the UAE.
