Folks, my sister-in-law's 2004 RAV 4 (4WD, not sure about the engine size, but I'm pretty sure it should be a 2.4 since they were default engines in the 2003 models onwards) engine seized since the radiator went dry (despite getting serviced at Emarat a week ago).
The pistons, gaskets and seals are fried.
What are our options currently?
1) Can the engine from another car be used with some modifications, like the Camry?
2) How much will a used engine cost?
3) Is it worth purchasing another engine and spending more money getting it replaced or should we just scrap the car?
Cheers.

Hey,
It a very nice and helpfull question for other to read on. I must say before your switch to modify the engine or replace it your should better have a review of specialise mechanic for modification. Because shifting engine might not be big trouble but it can cause many defect in the electronic and coolant.
The cost of the engine might vary are your looking for brand new or user?
I think if you really set up your mind for replacing engine or modification you should go for it.
Also I suggest to raise your question on one of the best uae brand specific forum that I found on google. It really has real car enthusiast for Toyota specifically who can help your with technical suggestion. Check out this url below, Trust me.

Hi,
Engines with a smaller displacement ( less than 3.5) arent worth fixing as they usually end up giving you constant problems( misfire, power loss etc) best option i to replace ince its a 2003 engine are easier to find, yes you can use the camry engine but it just isnt the same, i can get it done for you at a reasonable cost. if youre interested do give me a call 0505095845
Thanks
Jeff
