Hi,

I know the title compares two completely different car types. I have done plenty of research for my next car and ended up with a 2011 G37 coupe and a 2012 GTI.

Both cars share plenty of equipment that I like. However, what I am stuck at and need expert help with is comfort and price of maintenance. As I have not driven many cars, I really cannot tell which car is a better daily commuter for me (half of which is a city with bumpy road and the half is a clear highway).

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks :)

the g37 will be more reliable, cheaper to maintain in the long run as well as cheaper parts.
the 19 inch tyres will be more expensive on the g37 compared to the 18 inch on the gti

the gti may run into dsg issues and in general is more expensive maintenance wise.

both are good cars, main difference being RWD naturally aspirated vs FWD with turbo. You have to spend some time in both and pick what you like as everyone's tastes are different.

good luck and do update on what you ended up with finally.

Get the G37. More power and comfort. Not fuel economy though.
