^ bottom line is dont freak out and spend alot of money on an old car you bought for a small sum of money... As long as its running and drives you from A-B without issues then its doing its job fine then dont think about it too much.. Avoid the risk of wasting alot of money on it... Spending AED 3K in 4-6 months on consumables is better than dumping in at once on parts that are still running...

OZI,

here is a gift from me , its a step by step on how to do things yourself with IMAGES on your 1g DSM. read through and learn it has everything you need to know ever on a DSM.

print these things out and give them to mechanics to do the work properly , this is the only way to do it if you dont want to spend a lot of money in the performances garages. ( print the job out and give it to a normal mechanic who charges a resnoable price and tell him to follow the steps its with pictures also.

i have done this for so many years and i even did it myself without having any mechanics.

ENJOY

Update!

1) Took the Eclipse to Evolve Performance Group, they said it was a transmission related to problem, so they sent it to Dexol
2) Dexol specializes in Automatic Transmissions, but they said it was a transmission controller problem, and they couldn't help out. They gave the number of a guy called Omran, but when I called him up, he said he doesn't deal with car models older than '98
3) Took it to the DSM guy in Sharjah Industrial Area, they said they'll check it out and let me know.

Pray it gets sorted guys! :(

^ As long as your gearbox is working and shifting completely to all its gears then don't bother even thinking about it... Sluggish performance on a really old car is something not too unusual so just live with it...

Well, both garages told me its not shifting the lower gears, hence the slow pickup. Got my fingers crossed.

Just something that came across my mind, does your car has something like a "wet condition" setting? I know my Volvo has one, when i turn the transmission into "wet condition" it also reacts sluggish. This is done to reduce wheelspin in slippery conditions
