Nissan Patrols that backfire

Hi everyone great forum i have read some very interesting articles here :)
lately mainly over EID i was in badayer/big red alot and there are tons of patrols and landcruisers that sit on the redline backfiring the cars like crazy. do any of you know how they do that because yes they hav modded but what sort of mods i mean just putting exhaust and turbo shouldnt do that?

Most aftermarket standalone ECU's feature ignition cuts instead of fuel cuts at redline preventing lean combustion causing the unburnt fuel to ignite in the exhaust. Doesn't happen with catalytic converters though.
