Is this from the GTX's ?

They come with 1.6 L B6T turbocharged, fuel-injected and intercooled.. And was used in many cars;

- 323 GT-X
- 1985-1989 Mazda Familia GT-X/GT/Infini
- 1985-1989 Ford Laser TX3 turbo
- Mercury Capris

Are you thinking about swapping this engine in somewhere? Maybe (big MAYBE) you can find a used car of the above list in places like sharjah or something. If you do find a GTX, let me know :D

A GTX is a 4wd turbo'd pocket rocket.. they have more or less 145 - 150 hp 137-ish pounds-foot of torque..

Please find one, please please please :)

they are so slow. u can find one easily for 1500-2000 bucks in NZ. and the newer ones (than the one u posted) u can get it easily around 4000$ (10,000dhs) around here.. they are SLOW, crap and breakdown all teh time.. no1 wants them

i wouldnt mind shipping 100 or so to u guys for.. experience...

wow... from what i read on the net, with a few bolt ons and upgrades - this car does 12's .... impressive....

But maybe finding parts and one here might be an issue....

PS - a frind of mine yesterday picked up a 3000GT Twin Turbo - what a car!!
its old - but it was in perfect condition (previously owned by a Shk.)

wek - tell us if u come across one of those ! - they are cheap (ish) and can be a good project car!

their engine is very limited. 1.6 is pretty damn small.. and this engine usually craps out quickly. so it acually costs much more to get this cars to 12's than something like a GTiR (which arguably would be its competitor).

I dunno, i wouldnt think about buying one.. especially the older ones. But yeh since he has a mazda anyway he has no choice really.. unless hes keen to drop a rotar :? !!1

GTR's are a lot heavier.. Sure, a 2.6 can be tweaked to higher numbers.. but stock. I wouldn't call a high 13 - low 14's so earth shattering for a dubbed sports car.

Smaller cars have a better power to weight ratio..

But I guess for aftermarket support, GTR's are better platforms.

Wek, what car you gonna buy? or bought?

i said GTiR. not gtr. i wouldnt think about comparing it to a gtr.

and i think ur time's are wrong

standard. the older ones are low to mid 15's. and the early 90's model does mid 14's

My bad, I didn't see the little "i" :) A Pulsar indeed would be a better competitor.

I got my times of http://www.jbskyline.com.. But errm... Low to mid 15's .. That's a bit slow actually, my car does those numbers. But maybe it's because of the weight of the awd drivetrain? tdogg, what does your "R do in the 1/4 mile?

i dont have an R

ive got a gtst.. i reckon low 14's cause its RWD. my Gts4 b4 this would do easily mid 13's.. havnt been to the track

GTRs are really expensive here.. at least 50,000dhs.. because we cant import cars older than 96 so they are rare

For info..
BPT
The BPT is a turbocharged and intercooled variant of the BP. It produced 179 hp (134 kW) and 174 ft.lbf (237 Nm) of torque. A detuned variant of the BPT with considerably less power (due to fuel standards) was sold in Australia. The hottest version was used in the Mazda Familia GT-R, producing 206 hp (154 kW) and 184 ft.lbf (250 Nm).

Applications:

1989-1994 Mazda Familia GT-X (Japan)
1989-1994 Ford Laser TX3 turbo (Australia)
Ford Laser GT-X
