Hi

I own a Clio 200 RS and I'm looking to have my first oil change done. The dealership don't change the oil until 10k, and I don't want the car running on the factory filled oil for that long. I'd also like to make more frequent changes than the dealership's service intervals.

I'm new to Dubai and don't know much about where to go for good motor oil. Back home (UK) I used to run Silkolene Pro S 5w40 in my track car. It's about the best oil money could buy - it's fully synthetic and genuine ester based and would have great stability at high temperatures.

I've noticed here that you can get oil changes done in petrol stations, looks like a really handy service. I also noticed that they have their own branded 5w40 fully synthetic oils. Err, are they any good? :? If not, can anyone recommend an excellent fully synthetic oil which is obtainable here in Dubai? My manual states a fully sythentic 5w40 is to be used.

Thanks very much in advance! (Y)

I am sure most service stations will have other oil brands besides there own. I used to use Mobil 5w40 in my type-r...I didn't get to track it, but I did alot of spirited driving, lol..

Most service stations have their local oil brands which arent that impressive and refuse to do oil changes if you got them your own oil..
Im using fully synthetic liqui moly on my car its great for my SHJ-Motorcity sprints on Em. rd.
Why dont you ask the dealer or pass by and see whats the exact oil brand and grade they are using.. There is some Caltex and castrol oil changing garages in the Qouz industrial area if you want to check..

Thanks Tamu / Roj.

My booklet recommends Elf Evolution SXR 5w40 - a very impressive oil... I went to Diera this afternoon to Renault parts and they told me they don't stock it! I'm not impressed at all!

Spoke to them. They don't do the 300v :( They do the 8100 X-cess 5w40, but it's not brilliant if I remember correctly...

Thanks guys.

Did some research into the Motul stuff, and the 8100 is a lot better than I first assumed. It also has a recommendation by RenaultSport, so it'll do just fine. :)
