Hi everyone,

My car was overheating due to some stupid leak, i drove to the mechanic and found out i have a blown
head gasket due to that.

He pulled out the engine for the compression tests and it came fine and hence no problem with the engine.

He says now, that I have to replace a lot of parts such as

1) oil and filter kits
2) gas kits
3) mountings

and has to flush the engine

he says the parts will come to about 3500-4000 AED
and the overall labour charges will be AED 1800

Is this fine for all these?

Thanks a ton.

I think he's screwing you over. Oil filters and gaskets are dirt cheap. Mountings are expensive but not AED 3000 expensive. Get a second opinion and ask for a complete list of parts required.

Based on rough averages:

Opening/finishing up head (labour): AED 500
Head gasket kit: AED 500
Mountings: ?
Oil and filter: AED 150
Engine flush: AED 250

Does not add up to anything even close to AED 3500.
