Hi everyone my dad recently purchased a bmw x5 twin turbo and i was wondering whats the best way to get more boost . Should i simply by and install a boost controller or should i go get a remap from a garage? If so which garage would be best and what are the prices like?
Scary how you say "simply buy and install a boost controller"
An electronic boost controller is a good start if you are thinking of messing around with the boost. Install it and do some adjustments to the settings etc. As you don't need in theory to have a remap if you just up the boost pressure a little bit as this is what a Electronic boost controller is designed for (Piggy backs the ECU, so tells the ECU to make adjustments to timing etc)
BUT (IN BIG LETTERS) if i was you and with that type of car ... i'd take it to a garage that knows about this sort of thing.
Munich Motors in Al quoz have BMW tuning parts and ECU equipment. Could be a good starting point.
My experience is with a Nissan S14 and Mazda RX7 , installing and set it up from help notes and online guidelines from known specialist in UK.
