Hi,
I was just wondering that how many of you have sr20det engine in your car and what kind tuning you have done to it. Over here in Finland this engine is pretty popular and there are some cars with over 500hp. My car has only 358.8hp and I´m hoping to get that 400hp out of it. What kind power increase can I expect if I change those stock cam shafts for HKS (254 or 256) etc. ones?

Thanks Shalashaska, I got your PM. Yeah I know that Pulsars are very quick. My engine mods are:
Garrett GT2871R turbo, Megan racing tubular manifold, Megan Racing 3" outlet, 3 1/8" apex performance exhaust, Nismo 555 injectors, Apexi induction kit, Z32 MAF, Apexi Power FC, Apex performance FMIC, Blitz dumpvalve, Blitz boost controller, Denso IK27 plugs. 1.2 bar, 358.8hp + 476.6nm. Next I will fit HKS 1.2mm headgasket and Greddy rocker arm stoppers. I will also consider those cam shafts.

I´m running 1.2 bar of boost right now and after I have fitted that HKS head gasket I will probably run around 1.4 bar. I have heard that sr20det´s internals should cope with 400hp. But that´s about the limit before changing pistons, rods etc.

For the stock Garrett turbo, it would handle only upto 9-11psi.. but since yours is a much improved and capable one, its not unusual to run 1.2bar.. Impressive, really.. Yeah it could be a good idea to rebuild the engine with better pistons, rods etc. Now it is working like a dream according to that guy in a dyno shop. It goes up to 7000rpm without hesitation and without any knocking. That guy also said that it should easily take 1.4 bar of boost after I have changed the head gasket. But you never know how long those stock pistons etc. will last.

If you're not really 'racing' too much, i.e. boosting around alot, they should still last for a couple of months.. 1.2bar is not what the stock internals can bare for long. Drifting... hmm, thats what the Silvias were actually meant for! You're so lucky to own a Silvia, without doubt, the perfect drift car! In here, there are too many guys who're really interested in drifing and can perform well too, if only given a chance. The track charges are so high that no one even thinks of going at the track to learn and perform.. That's why its all on the streets.. the public roads!
Over here there are somekind of track days almost every summer weekend, and the price is around dh100 for a day. But naturally lot of guys are "drifting" on the streets, but if you get caught, fines are BIG. And they (police) might take your license away for a month or so. Here the winter is the best practice for drifting Try to keep over 300hp, rear wheel drive car on a icy road. That is sometimes quite scary.

That's cool.. Seems like they're not much strict over there.. If you get caught drifting or doing burnouts anywhere in the whole of Dubai specially, you're car will be gone for 6 months straight away. No excuses, no talks. I had mine confiscated for 3 months but that was just in the beginning when the laws weren't much strict, anyway I was just racing (which is otherwise "speeding" for the cops)..

Yes I have read from the Gulf News that police is confiscating cars over there for traffic violations. Thank god it´s not like that over here. Fines are big over here though. My friend was driving 23km/h over the limit and he got fine of dh2500. More money you make, bigger fine you get. I believe that biggest fine over here was around dh450.000!!!!! Finland is in the Guinness book of records on having highest speeding fines in the world.

Damn, thats crazy man.. In here, its less fines and more confiscation! How could one possibly get a Dh450k fine?? Yeah your right, that is really insane But that´s how things are over here. That guy who got those huge fines was some rich guy whose annual income was around dh160.000.000!! Because the fines system is like that we have to be careful where to "race".
