first you have to know yourself...
what do you want?
for what are youre going to use the car?

project?
for race?
drag?
auto-x?

then how much is your budget?
there is a lot of gud engine there in the market now... gud price too.. but you have to remember when buying this engine.. its like 50/50
50 % might run after stalling
50% might not run after stalling

and remember after stalling means you already spent some $$$$$$

and laslty who is going to do you the swap or your project?
well if you by yourself know about engine or the one who's gonna doing the swap.. with the help of some friends.. thats gud

but if not... you better look frist for a good garage that will do it for and can do it for you not even 100 %

gud luck bro on your project
IMO i'll go with b18c project... type-r

if ur goin for the civic project i suggest u get the k20 engine..lots of tuning potential.. ( I OWN A 2004 TYPE R).
get urself a set of forged piston and rods..not that expensive..
if the engine u have is the k20a2 get the k20a camshafts and intake mani..
get the quaife LSD and hondata kpro a set of new injectors and u could order a turbo kit from the states or build one urself..oh and yea dont forget 2 upgrade ur clutch..
if ur still interested i'll send u a link where u can see turbocharged K20s hittin 500+whp..

Alright - now we're rocking!!! 8)

Before going ahead and swapping it in right away, may I suggest you take some time with the original engine out cleaning up the engine bay area, maybe re-painting, maybe just degreasing everything properly, replacing worn out wire covers, etc.

Many people are so eager to get the new engine in they miss this important step. Then you end up with a great engine that looks like crap because the engine compartment is all old and peeling paint.

Secondly, the engine itself. Get it real clean when its still out. Detail the beast. Make it beautiful and shiny, check/replace all oil seals - it's easy when the engine is out!

These two simple steps will really make a great difference in the visual quality of your swap.

Make it sing to you when you open the hood, man!!! 8)
