The engine of AE86 is 4AGE 16v(140 hp). It was introduced in Corolla as RWD in from 1984 - 1987. in 1992 onwards they introduced 4AGE 16V in FWD cars.
Later in 1993 - 1995 the engine was 4AGE 20V(185 hp) in FWD and AWD format.
Now from the performance aspects. 4AGE 20V with 4 throttle bodies, is the top most capable. with internal tunings.
The only thing is that the stock transmission of this engine is mostly FWD and some AWD. If you want to make it RWD then you need to adjust the gears of either old AE86 corolla with 4AGE 16V stock transmission(5speed).
Or the Altezza Transmission(but i am not sure about the Altezza Tranny -6speed).
The 4AGE 16V is not easily available here and it is not of that much interesting.
The best car would be a 93-97 Toyota Corolla with FWD version of Blacktop 4AGE 20V. and if you are lucky to find the same engine with 6 spd tranny very rare here.very very rare.
Let us know what are you upto.

Salam Khalood,
The 4AGZE is a super charged version its gud enuf but if you want a good performer i think its gonna take a lot of time to build as compared to 4AGE Blacktop 20V - its internals are not upto that mark. they are built for low boost only. ande if u wanna increase the boost. u will have to change up entire internals along with port and polished head + plus the wiring/electricals will be a big problem as this engine came in the market around 3-4 years back and not many have the experience to mod it completely and the major part they get stuck in wiring.
Also plz note that what ever you swap. make sure of the following things so that it is a good performer even if you keep a stock. (that is what i think)
Make sure that you get at least a half cut coz you need the complete harness/wiring + the AFM (air flow meter). + the ECU (Computer) +
if you are lucky enough to get these things....
4AGE 20V Blacktop with 6 speed manual Transmission
Gauge Cluster from AE111 or AE100 Toyota Trueno.
Redline Starting at 7800RPM max limit 9000 RPM. (but speedo will be 180km/h as being JDM)
any querries let me know and
technical help you need from my side you are always welcome.
look forward to your project build.
Thanks & Best Regards

4AGE 16v or 20v did not power any AWD drive car, only FFs, FRs and MRs.Khan wrote: Later in 1993 - 1995 the engine was 4AGE 20V(185 hp) in FWD and AWD format.
The MAF sensor is meant to keep emission levels low(US-spec), the MAP (Manifold absolute pressure) sensor(JDM) would be better choice.Khan wrote:

As for for the transmission, the 5-speed from the silver-top works fine with the blacktop. You can even run 4AFE's 5-speed with the silvertop(for FF setup). I've seen so many 4AGE swaps with 76 corona transmission for RWD setups on 76-82 corollas in Pakistan, the tall gears work surprisingly well.

@k77ang3r
if you're planning to keep is stock then i'd suggest 4AGZE 16v, i know driving a SC for daily runs is crazy in this heat but driving a high revving car in traffic can be reeeeeeeaaaaaally frustating some times.
If you want BIG power..then go for the Bigport, 16V head mated to a 7 ribbed, Hi-comp block......then go TWINSIDES or ITB's..
As for Toyota cars which you can install the AE86 engine, look for the 4dr corolla KE70's which are still runnung on UAE roads. GL

You are talking of 7 ribbed block ??? and TWINSIDE can you simplify it to some of us who are more familiar with honda Bseries Nissan RB's and the 1jz

Yeah simplify it for us novices with toyota engines...I've seen a 9000RPM performing engine on a celica GT....is it similiar to the engines you guys are talking about above??

lol
Hehehehehe....sorry it was too technical for you guys. Anyway...i'll post some pics so you can see the difference between a 3 ribbed and a 7 ribbed block..
7-ribbed
3 ribbed
The 7 ribbed blocks are preferred if going BIG POWER for the 4AGE. This comes with piston oil squirters (OEM)to help on cooling down pistons during extreme operations..something like this one...
...
Bore and stroke of the 4AGE's (81 x 77.7mm) are almost similar to that of the B16's (81 x 77.4mm) and the 20V blacktop versions of the 4AGE family has the highest CR (11:1) MAP type with 165PS@7800 and 165 N-m of torque@ 5600 .
TWINSIDES is the term being used usually by "OLDSCHOOLERS" who uses twin or double side draughts carburetor (WEBERS, Mikunis, SOLEX, Dellortos..etc)which was used on the N2 Spec Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 with the HEAVILY modified 4AGE and with TRD components. It was driven by Keichi Tsuchiya and won many races..
TWINSIDE's principle are almost the same as the ITB's..
