I have 3 cracks on my Miata's windshield. Autoglass in Dubai quoted me AED 350 for a stone chip the size of a 1 Dirham coin, so I'm not sure if they'll be able to repair the crack itself. They also offered to order a brand new windshield for AED 1950 from the UK, which includes installation.

Does anyone have any experience with any other windshield repair company here in Dubai? Is it possible to contact a simple glass repair company and ask them to do the job in the hopes of a lower rate?

I don't want to do a DIY job, as DIY kits (available for USD 10 online) are good for chips, not cracks.

My other concern is if Tasjeel will pass the car with the cracks as they're the size of a 1 Dirham coin, and near the edge of the windshield (but not the corner).

Stone chips are easier than cracks. You could even use a DIY kit for that. One place quoted me AED 350 for a stone chip repair.

Ozzi dude there is a place in Sharjah opposite the Habtoor parts shop (near sharjah sewage plant) which stocks most windshields and its cheap as hell. If your coming from ghussais from grand hotel keep going straight until you see the shop in sharjah on your left (right before the Habtoor shop)
I have their card somewhere...

cheap windshield will hold up in an accident like the OEM windshield? make sure their quality is the same, though i have no idea how to judge a quality of a whidshield lol

I hate bots. What pisses me off even more is when one craps my thread. Don't %#%$ crap my thread! How would you like to feel that wannabe LV leather crap where the sun don't shine?!

@ my UB brothers, thanks folks, I will check that place out, and if none of those 3 shops can fix it (they replied asking for pictures), I'll verify with the first shop whether the replacement glass is original. I'm assuming it is. Thing is, this car is rare as it is, I haven't seen anyone stock simple maintenance parts for it (when I asked around, they had no freakin' idea what a Miata was and refused to help, prompting me to order it from Ebay) let alone a windshield. But thanks, I look forward to the contact details! :)

When my windshield cracked because of a rock on Emirates Road, insurance replaced it at no extra charge i.e. did not raise my premium. Unless you are driving without insurance, why not ask them to replace it?

I have third party insurance, couldn't get comprehensive due to the age of the car. Third party doesn't cover squat right?
