Newby here! I have my humble sedan Chevy Aveo Ls 2009 model (medium Gray color) which I plan to modfiy for aesthetic and improvement purpose only.

I plan to start with the wheels. Thinking of putting 16" rims with low profile tires. Is this ok for my car? Some shops I visited is always advising me to stay with 15" rims. Not sure if they just want to sell the rim or what.

I need suggestions, recommendations and ideas on how I can start.

Would love to hear from you guys! Thanks!

I don't know why they suggest staying on the 15" wheels, but it should be OK if you drive on 16" wheels (you must put the right tyres though, which could be hard to find)

If you can give me the precise wheels & tyre size of your OEM wheel setup I can help you more.

Yeah, I felt that they just want to get rid of their 15" rims.
I think what I'm having right now is 185/60 r14.
Could you suggest the suitable specs of tyres for a 16" rim on Aveo?
Your help is very much appreciated!

the tire 185/60r14 is a 14" tyre, so you either wrote the tyre specs wrong, or you're really running on 14" wheels.

I checked online, and the Original tyres are 14" not 15", and the tyre is what you said 185/60 R14.

I searched for the best tyre sizes for 15" and 16" wheels, and I think these are the best:
for 15" rims (Rim Width Range: 5.5 - 7 in)
195/50R15: When the speedometer reads 100 kph, you'll be going 99.72 kph (The Speedometer reads 0.28% faster than the actual speed)

for 16" rims (Rim Width Range: 7 - 8.5 in)
215/40R16: When the speedometer reads 100 kph, you'll be going 100.14 kph (The Speedometer reads 0.14% slower than the actual speed)

I think the 215/40R16 tyres (16") will look really good because they are noticeably wider than your original tires.
As for the offset, I think the original is +45mm, and your car is not lowered, so you should have no problems with the offset, it is a personal choice, but in my opinion you shouldn't go with anything less than +38mm.

Good luck!!

165/45/16 + 8.5" Wide Rims + Slammed ride height & Camber kits = One Sick Aveo (Y)

Not necessary, may be if you will install 16"R, your wheels will scratched the front bumper or wheel ark. Have you measured them?
