As the topic suggests.

1) Where did you guys get your sound proofing done?

2) Where did you buy the sound proofing material?

3) Which brand did you use?

4) How much did you pay for it?

5) Any suggestions?

Mods I believe this topic lies in the right place. Please take action if it isnt.

Thanks dude...

Yellow has got stuff and i have been buying them...
It is not enough and too expensive. I was looking for an alternative.

Auto Plus has dynamat and they have been ripping me off for all the stuff that i brought.

Wanted to know if someone else had another option which i missed out.

I got 4 rolls of dynamat (dont remember the dimensions), from HSV. Price was around 250 a roll, which is on the steap side of things!!! I applied the role myself on door panels and trunk.

Installing it I would give it a 7/10 for how hard it was.
Price i give it 5/10
quality 8/10

I ended up doing double layers in some places of the trunk bcoz the dynamat couldnt stop the rattle.!!!
I am intrested to know if there are other types of sound proofing in the market as well besides dynamat?

There are lot of brands.
For example in yellow hat there is a jap brand Called AODEA which i have used in my car so far.
But the door Kit itself cost me 400 Dhs and I think it was an over kill.
Yesterday I opened up the door and I think I will re-do the door again soon.

Now I have ordered FAT mat which is 50 SQ FEET in size. Lets see...

I will post pics of my project soon. Thinking about setting up a blog.

For the Door did you do inside and outside panel?

Yes the side fenders for my coupe will definitely require two or three layers.

I am planning to do complete coverage including top and bottom.

Car is stripped down to front seats and been using it for the past two weeks.

you know thats what I have been boggled about. How am i supposed to put a layer on the inside of the door panel..there is barely enough room to get your hands in that area. Or am I thinking something completly wrong??..
Ya definatly setup a blog, i'll suscribe to it :D

Lol!!! YOu can put your hands inside if you are prepared to cut them pretty badly...
Mine did...
Thats why your parents tell your "Dont put ur hands in places where you shouldnt put ur hand."

Honeslty there are serveral Large holes in the inside panel through which you can touch the exterior panel(Body) Do it as much as you can.

Guess what I just got my FATMAT and today Afternoon I am going to burn in this climate. Damn!
I will take pictures. :)

OK so do you cover up the entire hole?? I did put my hand inside the but there wasnt enough room for me to properly lay it out!!...
In all honesty I never really felt the front of my car vibrating, it was always my trunk and rear side panels. BUT, after putting one layer on the side panels, which sorta stopped the small rattling of the speaker, I felt my car was much more quiet inside the cabin. That I liked more but I could still hear the road...
After 2 layers in the trunk area I still got rattle, it was much less then before but it was there and it annoyed the living shit out of me. Thing is the way you apply it is the key. If you miss one tiny hole/gap/space then all your hardwork and money is done the drain...

The Fatmat that I received is Thin, thinner than the Jap Material I have got.

Now I am planning to mix and match.

A lot of sound proofing is trial and Error unlike building an enclosure or selecting the setting on an AMP.

Ok guys,

Did anyone find an alternate source for car audio sound dampening material.

The Yellowhat at Nad alHamar has some old stock been sitting there for more than 3 years and they want Dynamat prices for this no name crap.

Looking for another retailer / distributor of car audio sound damening material....?
