I found this on another forum and have used this mod on the Lexus IS300 2008 and Toyota Camry SE 2008. It will work on all 2006+ year models of the vehicles so if it doesnt work when you do it you must have done something wrong. Just try it again.

I also believe this will work on the following vehicles:-
Lexus ES350 (EDIT: Does not work on 2007-2009 models. Part of personalized settings and can be disabled by the dealer)
Lexus GS300
Lexus GS430
Avalon
Aurion

1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake
2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )
3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.
5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

To turn on again just simply repeat process and make appropriate selection at step 7.

I do not recommend that you do not use your seat belt while driving. I always use my seatbelt and make sure the passengers are belted in when I drive. The chime just annoys me especially when people in the car remove the seatbelt well before I stop.

Always buckle in!

Let me know if the same works in other Toyota vehicles and I will edit the list above. Hope people find this useful.

KArtoos-

This procedure does not work on the ES350. I have had success using this technique on the RX350-but not w/the ES350. I had the chime shut off by the dealer last year. Now–I took my car in for the recall last week and they turned it back on and now they wont shut it off. I hate them. Any ideas? Thanks.

In that case brother you can turn off the chime in an easier way.
Its very simple.
Just wear the seatbelts while driving. It might save some pain for your family.

Neo is right! You need to wear your seat belts.

Are you sure you did exactly as shown. Maybe they have updated the system. I will dig around and let you know.

I do wear my seatbelt. I've been driving for 35 years. I do not need an annoying reminder about it. I paid $43,000 for that car. I think I paid for the right to have a quiet cabin if I want it that way, "brother".

Kartoos–Thank-you for any help you can give me w/this. If not, I may try and just disconnect the wire. But there are a lot of plugs under the seat for the seat cooling & heating system, and for moving the seat. I can't follow the line by myself. It's hard to fit a hand in there so Im going to need the help of a 2nd party b4 attempting that.

Just so u dont have an annoying experience, pls dont disconnect any wires related to seat belt. These things are interlinked with airbags, belt tensioner etc... you dont want the air bags exploding on your face when you are/driving. Your best option if incase kartoos cant find the solution is to manually disconnect the buzzer. But you will not hear any chimes at all.

Lexus is a sophisticated car and it demands such approach. The bright yellow wires with clip are related to air bags.

Sorry for not replying. I am away for about 10 days. So wont be logging in that often.

There have been other reports about the ES350 owners not able to turn the chime off. Thats the bad news. the good news is that the chime is part of your personalized settings which the dealer should do it as per your request. Please go through your Manual find the page for the seatbelt chime and take it to the delaer. they should then turn it off. It is an available option and they cannot say no.

This is the best method. Dont even think of cutting or unplugging any wires.

I "probably" wouldnt disconnect any wires, but sometimes in the heat of the moment we get desperate.

In any event-the first time I took the car to have my Personal Settings "personalized" the Service Mgr flat out refused to turn off the chime. Then he told me it couldn't be done. When I said that it was in the manual–he said it was a typo. When I told him there were instructions online on how to do it he finally relented and did it for me. Now, when I took the car for my 10,000 service, part of the deal is that they are supposed to give you new mats bc of the gas pedal problem recall. They were out of the mats and told me I would have to return–yet again–when they came in. This is the 3rd or 4th time that I had to return for something in the past year bc they did not have the correct parts on hand... or ordered the wrong part. So when I answered my customer service survey I complained about it. Last week the Dealer's Genrl. Mgr. called my house and asked what he could do to placate me. Can you guess what I asked him for?!

I am going back this week to have the chime shut off. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks sincerely for trying to help.

So-the dealer did disconnect the chimes for me. Now-I just have to remember every time I take the car for service to tell them not to reconnect. Thanks for trying to help. The ordeal did lead me to this website which before now I was unaware of... so that's cool. Thanks.

Im sorry dont see the point of this topic....the chime is there to remind the driver and passenger, and people want to turn that feature off ....seen cars with the belt buckled up from behind the seat....all i can call is the height on insanity.....

Just for the info nothing works properly like airbags and other safety measures if the person is not wearing a seat belt, as sensors are all linked.... And God forbidden if a car is traveling at a speed of 40-50km/hr and some accident happens the AIRBAG itself can kill the driver or passenger in case a person is not wearing a seatbelt.
