I doubt it. Just like everything US, they're biased/partial, hypocritical, and vague with their policies. I don't blame UAE for doing what they're doing...really. It makes sense from their point of view.
^True that

RIM not going to give in cz of pressure from govts of other countries.. so those people are so stiff that nothings going to happen..so no more bbm nd stuff...
i guess eventully RIM will shutdown and bb wil be a thing of the past within the course of time...Coz what i believe is that UK ..USA..Canada...S.America..S.Africa will go ahead with using bb..but when the rest of the world has liek banned it then the company will have problems survivng as their revenues will get affected bigtime... letz c..
as for the etisalat social package guys :: its something like 900local sms..100 intl sm..and some amount of mins..nd data package of 100mb..

What do they give a *uck about anyway? How much do we represent in their total sales? 2%? 3%?

"According to RIM, in November 2008,the BlackBerry had about 21 million users worldwide. In June 2010, RIM has announced they sold up to 100 millions BlackBerry due to record sales"
which means UAE has 0.5% @ 500K users?? I wouldn't budge for the UAE if I was RIM!!

lets say we represent 3 %...but i was talkin in general...
coz as i am following thease bb blackout storys...
-UAE starts the ban
-KSA says they banning this month
-other GCC countries are acting wisely over this....
-India is on the same if to bann or not
-Pakistan aldrdy has banned fb if im not wrong and also is considering banning bb
-Today indonesia is taking this issue seriously
So now a hefty bunch of deir sales are aaffected..
guess now thai, singapore, and the rest eastern countires will act alike..
so lets take like in the next 2-3 years...bb will be banned in more than what i just mentioned...so that way... only USA..UK..Canada..will use bbs...

There just 114k BB users in India.
There are 1.2 million BB users in Indonesia but they aren't blocking it:http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100805/tc ... 0805115247
In Pakistan, BB is bearly used.
Bahrain said it won't block, rumors were there the Kuwait would but now:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100803/wr_ ... blackberry
Back to my point, its not a big loss for them. They won't kneel down, instead all of the countries that blocked will have to. All Government department workers have BB, so they can access and work anywhere and everywhere.
Take me for example, I now use my laptop less for work compared to my BB. All my emails, reports etc, directly come to my BB, rather than my shyt-%#%$ IBM.

RIM won't bend over because if they do it for one, everyone will line up.
Also, FB isn't blocked in Pakiland any more.
