balloon or normal tires for racing?

Wheels, tires, suspensions, brakes etc.

i currently have 20in stock rims on my tundra
from my knowledge normal tires are good for acceleration
but Siam sand tyres (balloon tires) are good for top speed.
ive seen two nissan patrols
1st: cold air intake - normal tyres
2nd: stock-ballon tires

at the beginning they were beside each other but from 3rd gear the patrol with the balloon tires disappeared.

my truck is best from 0-200
but since rarely anyone races from 0 with a tundra i was thinking of balloon tyres...what do you guys think?
my top speed right now is at 220-230...reached 235 once..something wrong with the 5th gear i think..

Don't put Siams on for top speed, you'll have a hard time braking with them. Very unsafe IMO.

In any case, I don't think they'll make you reach top speed faster. Atleast not noticeably enough.

^This.

Vibrations and wobbles you WILL care about that you car wouldn't be too keen about. Expect loads of noises and creaks to pop up too!

I have Baloon tires on my LandCruiser...and I hate it...Sorta...

Its a love hate relationship, its always wobbling, vibrating and making weird A$s noises. I have to go for alignment every now and then because the vibrations and wobbling get real bad...

I don't believe baloon tires will help you achieve top speed faster. But braking is SCARY as hell...If your gunning it down the street and slam on the brakes for the signal, the rear lets loose and the car starts swerving. Also baloon tires don't help handling at all...

However, once there nice and warm with addition to your happy right foot, expect amazing...amazing smoke lol!!

I'm sorry for going off-topic but if you write that you don't care about braking, then you best be racing on an empty street cuz if you are doing 200 and people are in front of you and you can't brake in time... well the rest im sure you know!

I think Siam tyres should only be used in dessert only, I dont recommend it for street use, especially high speeds, I dont think it has a speed rating of 200kph

Its just every landcruiser or patrol i see has siams and always beats the ones with normal tyres!
i have a tundra and once a 2001(i think) landcruiser actually caught up with me and passed me at around 210 :|
