I found it hard to believe that a stock 260-ish horsepower car could not keep up with your 2 liter (140-ish) horsepower? Speed limit is another thing, but then again.
I'm not a person who claims that a skyline can win any race, but sorry, I don't think he was racing.

was he driving in reverse ?
he is right because once my friend raced with mark2 1jz and he was having a mercedes e300 old model 1993, they raced on the bridge of ajman city center. 1st and 2nd gear mark went but while shifting to 3rd mercedes was gone and nothing he had on his engine and he won till the end of the bridge and mark2 was locked by 180km/h

racer: A mercedes e300 has a bigger engine than a 1jz .. So there might be a bit of truth in there.. Not all mark II's are turbo'd. Plus, if in 1st and 2nd, the Mark II went, then he has the better car. If the car is turbo'd, then it'll have turbo lag. The 500 cc more engine displacement will give the e300 the advantage in low end torque.
So the only time the e300 could be winning was from 0 - 30 kmph. Maybe untill 50kmph, if he has a REALLY big turbo.
My best guess is that he played for a bit.. killed you nicely and then didn't "go" anymore.. If X seconds later the Mark II driver see a mercedes catching up the many carlenghts that he's behind.. well then he'll smile and won't waste any petrol.
Ali: top speed to me is not winning a race.. If you change the gearing ratio's of any car, you can get it up to 200+ kmph. It'll just take ages. I still cannot believe that you won against a skyline (GTR even), just because of the law of physics. He just wasn't racing. Think about it.
I did some research:
A 1996 C220 (0.2 Liter more than you) has following numbers:
A skyline .. you have many skylines. Let's say it's a "older" R32.. Even in it's stock form it's slower than the R33 and R34. So, at http://www.jbskyline.net/R32/GTR/index2.php , that engine is 280 horsepower. (double your number) Let's say it's not a GTR.. And a GTST, then it would still be 215 horsepower.
The slowest of all (GTST) has a 0-60mph time of 6.3 seconds.
All of this together:
We compare a car that is faster than yours (C220) to a car slower than the one you probably raced (you thought it was a GTR).. and you still claim you beated it? Use common sense.
That car is faster in acceleration, you're not. It has the 180kmph stop, yes.. but.. driving 180+ on roads in traffic is, in my opinion, very dangerous. Yes, I am a *car freak*, yes I like driving fast, but only when it's safe.
As I said before, I'm not a guy who thinks the Skyline is the best car ever made, not by far, yet numbers cannot prove us wrong.
Sorry for the big rant, yet it gives me UB dirhams, but a Merc C200 smoking a GTR... no no no.

Wow...
C'mon guys, take it easy on him!
We dont knw the situation - for all we knw it could be a Skyline with a B16A engine in it - His Merc could beat that!
For all we knw te guy in the Skyline couldnt drive for shit and couldnt change gears or something - and he realy trully kept up and beat him!
Lets give him the benefit of the doubt - we werent there so we cant prove him wrong......
(Maybe on paper - and with professionals driving - that Merc could never beat the Skyline GTR, GST, or ABC or whatever their called.... but it *may* have happened )
Tell u honestly, i once had a race with a Porsche Boxster (no - not an S) - and im pretty sure he sucked at driving cause he couldnt beat me in a straight line.... (but i knw very well that that wasnt a proper race cause he could have whopped my %#%$ if he knew how to drive - cmon civic Vs boxster - u dont need to look at numbers to knw the outcome! - but i still felt damn good about it - and i still won! - couldnt have something similar happened here? )

Maybe he/she can't drive... But tell what is so difficult in driving in a straight line with an automatic (Since most of the cars here are Auto's)? Put your boot down and wait. If it was manual, that's another story.. but then again..

No but it's like taking my car for drag racing... You put it in "sport mode" and put your foot down.. You can even light a cigarette as well, and tie your left shoe because that foot ain't doing anything.
But Accord, we're hijacking the thread.. shame on us ops:
