“It’s the
engine that matters”. Lets guess what we could
expect under the hood. HKS GT2050 Twins? GReddy
T67? Turbonetics Y2K? Those were some quite high
expectations anyway. The RB26 is in fact running
on twin Nismo turbos, an upgrade of the standard
RB26 twin turbos. The fuel and oil side consists
of Tomie fuel pump, Tomie fuel line, HKS oil pump
and GReddy oil catch system in addition to HKS cams
and Tenzo 550c injectors. Nismo double-plate clutch
is responsible for improved transmission at the
same time as OSgiken short-shifter is in charge
of the quick-shifting mechanism. Above all, supervising
the overall operations of the R33 is an HKS ECU
(Electronic Computer Unit). Other tidbits include
a couple of APEXi air filters (x2) and a GReddy
Type-S blow-off valve. Though much more is expected
of the car in a few coming months, our shots are
very restricted also because the owner was not
in favor of the untidy condition of the engine. |

Basic condition on buying any car: Comfortable.
Like most UAE-Skylines, this R33 also suffered the
left-hand-drive conversion mechanism. The seats
were left in place and no decorations were done
except for a GReddy Profec-B boost controller taken
on board, an HKS boost gauge to monitor turbo boost
and a Blitz turbo timer for proper heating/cooling
times.
