I don't understand what is the point of this... :? I am sure you can rent a car there which will be 1000 times cheaper and easier!

Actually it's hard to rent a car. Never been to Kerala but on a business trip my colleague could not get a good suv to rent for cheap with self drive option.
Car rentals not not that common compared to here and certainly not one without a driver.
Plus I guess one would like to show off their "foreign" car in their hometown as well.

Anyway if anyone has any info do post up. I'm sure it will help a lot of people.

Its very Easy..There is an International facility called Carnet De Passage..which you need to apply from Dubai and then consider shipping from Dubai to your home country.

Carnet De Passage is a facility where you can import your vehicle to any country without paying any duty and re export the same within the specified time. The validity of the carnet book is 1 year but initially you can only spend 6 mnths in one country in case you want your vehicle to be there for all 1 year than you need to ask for extension from the customs where your car is imported giving valid reason for the extension.

Its a beautiful facility if you wanna use your own car for your travel. I can guide with the shipping from Dubai to Mumbai and then on carriage to any state.

You can visit my website for more information http://www.secoshipping.co.cc

Thanks. Hope the above information was fruitful.

All you need to arrange is for the below documents:

1) Carnet book.
2) Valid Visa for visiting any country.

Remaining I will guide you once the above documents are READY..CHEERS !!
