I agree with Doc on this, looks good on the older cars.
I would support it as long as its on the surface, but the pic you posted of a perfectly fine white VW left to rust isn't something I like because rust is actually eating away the body work.

^FYI, thats a paint job btw.. It would be insane to leave your body panels rust...

So this whole rust trend is a paintjob fad? I thought they actually leave the body panels to rust, a member 'Khan' made a thread on this and according to him it was real rust.

Some people are crazy enough to scrape the paint off and add chemicals that speed the rusting to get the look...
The real story started in finding old hotrods in a junk yard, taking them out, doing some restoration work, dumping a new drive train inside them but keeping the body work as it is rusted and old to give it an original look... Now its a trend everywhere..

the other problem with this look is that you car will be towed off to the municipality lot at any time.
If you guys didnt know this but there is a beautification law. If your car is dirty or looks bad it will be towed away and impounded. It will cost you cash to get it out and thats not including the fines.

some nice pics are there, but i still say on old bettle pre 1964, the second one you posted is the 72 1302, but the one above is 63 cali style, and other cars which i can bear is MK1 Golf only
